The thing about repeatedly predicting civil strife is that it can become a self defeating prophecy.

People mistake Britain as a placid country. We have held strong, violent and contradictory beliefs over the centuries, we’ve had anarchists, republicans, suffragettes, revolutionary communists, chartists and saboteurs coming out of our ears, and two things have held us together. We have a basic sense of togetherness and a history of tolerating each other. And we have a phenomenally successful secret state which has squashed dissent since Walsingham.

So I’d be careful at predicting civil war, if I were you.

I understand. Far be it from me to predict the weather tomorrow let alone this or any country’s political landscape but I have found David Betz’ arguments to be resonating and interesting. I understand what you’re saying though.

Having not studied this, I only have impressions.

Despite everything, whenever I am in the UK I don't see a population angry and ready to fight a civil war. British people look resigned, exhausted and simply not strong or vigorous. At the same time there are still many others who have decent jobs or pensions, get their news from the BBC and see nothing untoward going on.

Northern Ireland is of course more volatile. But probably even Ballymena will just clean up and quieten down, the authorities will clamp down and tell lies, people will just grumble and accept the new status quo - you have to escort your children, walk in groups, avoid certain places, dress modestly, whatever.

I have not yet heard all of the Betz interview - I wonder does he talk about the ageing population? The younger a country's population the more likely a war is, I believe. That is another factor.

Great points, Rachel, especially with regard to the differences between Ballymena and Britain.

I first of heard of Betz when he was interviewed by Louise Perry for her MMM podcast. (Maiden, mother, matriarch). He’s been on a bit of a circuit since and is an expert in this area of civil war, considering all points leading up to a possible civil war. His words have really stuck with me but so far I have not heard him talk about the ageing population. If he does, I’ll post about it.

I’ve listened to Professor Betz’ interview with Andrew Gold too. It’s a compelling watch despite being 90 minutes plus! I’ll only make one point which will add to the feeling of the public being gaslighted by Labour. I was stupid enough to watch QT on BBC1 last night where Darren Jones (smug as they come and will be an ex politician in 2029) had the nerve to tell us that the majority of people crossing the channel are women and children! And of course the majority of stooges in the audience clapped like seals!! I was so angry I couldn’t sleep for hours.

This is why I can’t watch Question Time anymore. Just reading your comment has triggered the rage in me! Seriously, though they are so appalling on how they lie to us.

When I was a Scottish nationalist, we all stopped watching QT, even before Orange Jacket Man made multiple appearances on it

They just lie and lie as if it’s second nature Pallavi. They know there’s no consequences to their lying and they clearly think us fools and must have no respect for us. When I have the misfortune to listen to a moron like Darren Jones these days I console myself that he’ll be looking for a new job in 2029.

They are very sinister people. I bet Jones will move abroad, like so many as Britain doesn’t matter to them, it’s just a stepping stone; globalism, baby!
